Princeton midfielder Tom Schreiber, a leading Tewaaraton Award candidate for 2014 and former All-Long Island lacrosse player from St. Anthony’s, was the No. 1 overall selection in Major League Lacrosse’s collegiate draft on Friday night in Philadelphia.

Schreiber, a senior, was selected by the Ohio Machine.

Other Long Islanders selected in the first round for the sport’s premier outdoor professional lacrosse league were attack Kieran McArdle (Connetquot, St. John’s), No. 5 by the Florida Launch and defense Michael Ehrhadt (Chaminade, Maryland, No. 7 by the Charlotte Hounds.

The MLL season begins April 26.
