A trio of hat tricks powered the United States to a 17-5 victory over host England Monday in the World Lacrosse Championships at Manchester, England.

Paul Rabil, Brendan Mundorf and Mike Leveille each scored three goals, with Rabil adding two assists. Ryan Powell had two goals and two assists for USA, which led 8-2 at halftime.

Max Seibald (Hewlett, Cornell) was the only Long Islander to join the scoring parade, with a goal and an assist. Stephen Peyser (Cold Spring Harbor, Johns Hopkins) teamed with Alex Smith to give the U.S. a 16-8 advantage in faceoffs.

USA (3-1) concludes pool play in the rugged Blue Division with a game against surprising Japan on Tuesday. A victory will move the United States into the tournament’s semifinals on Thursday. The championship game is Saturday.
