Pete Budkevics pitched a two-hitter with 12 strikeouts in nine innings for C.W. Post (10-7-1, 9-2) in a 2-0 ECC baseball win over Bridgeport yesterday. Bryan Bonin hit an RBI single in the bottom of the sixth to give Post a one-run lead. Nick Compito drove in the second run in the seventh. Bridgeport is 6-8, 5-5.

SOFTBALLAdelphi splits. Heather Salerno broke a tie at 2 in the top of the eighth inning with an RBI single and Shay Craig added a grand slam as Adelphi defeated Dominican, 8-2, in Game 1 of a non-conference doubleheader at Queens College. Craig was 3-for-4. In Game 2, Delaney Childers allowed three hits and struck out five for Dominican (13-9) in a 6-0 win over Adelphi (8-8). Leighann Bell went 62/3 innings and allowed one earned run for the Panthers.

Post sweeps. Rogin Hardy was 2-for-4 with a two-run double and Kendall Bright 1-for-3 with two RBIs and a run as Post defeated Merrimack, 7-2, in Game 1 of a non-conference doubleheader. In Game 2, Christina Berardi allowed three hits and a walk in seven innings and Melissa Medina was 4-for-4 for Post (18-6) in a 6-0 victory. Merrimack is 4-9.

Dowling sweeps. Felicia Mendoza struck out seven in four innings and Kristen Weeks was 3-for-3 with a grand slam and six RBIs as Dowling downed Mercy, 16-1, in the first game of an ECC doubleheader. Jessie Stavola struck out 18 in a complete game as Dowling (2-0) won Game 2, 6-1.

NYIT takes two. Brooklyn Fields was 3-for-3 with a home run, two runs and two RBIs for NYIT in a 6-4 win over St. Thomas Aquinas in Game 1 of an ECC doubleheader. Fields hit a home run for NYIT (2-0) in a 5-4 win in Game 2.

St. Joseph's (L.I.) wins big. Alyssa Sieber was 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs as St. Joseph's beat Lehman, 18-3, in Game 1 of a non-conference doubleheader. In a 10-2 Game 2 win by St. Joseph's (9-6), Sarah Merritt was 4-for-4 with three doubles and five RBIs and Lauren Guzzardi allowed three hits in five innings. Lehman is 2-8.
