It was a loss of control. There were the two walks Duaner Sanchez handed out to Bridgeport as he blew his first save of the year in the ninth inning. There was Mark Diapoules hitting the leadoff batter, Prentice Redman, in the 12th.

And then there was just plain loss, as Redman scored on Steve Moss' one-out double and the Ducks suffered their first loss of the season, 8-7, Sunday to the Bluefish in Bridgeport.

Ray Navarrete was 3-for-6 with two runs, Kennard Jones was 3-for-4 with a run and John Rodriguez had two runs and two RBIs for the Ducks (2-1).

Sanchez's second opportunity as closer this year got off to a bad start, as Moss singled on Sanchez's first pitch of the ninth and Wes Bankston doubled with one out. Sanchez walked Eric Munson and Danny Putnam back-to-back to force in one run, and Luis Rodriguez hit a sacrifice fly, tying the score at 7. Sanchez struck out Angel Berroa to end the inning.

Will Cunnane started the 10th and held the Ducks to a single in extra innings. Diapoules worked two scoreless innings for the Ducks, but unraveled in the 12th with the hit-batter and walk-off double.

Starter Ruddy Lugo allowed three runs in six innings for the Ducks, striking out seven, and left with the lead after the Ducks rallied for four runs in the sixth.
