Al Leiter will not return to the YES Network booth as an analyst for 2019, the network confirmed on Tuesday.
Leiter, a former Yankees and Mets pitcher who joined YES in 2006, told the New York Post, which first reported his departure, that he wanted to have more time for his son, Jack, an elite pitching prospect who is a senior in high school.
YES traditionally has used a rotating cast of analysts, most recently with David Cone, John Flaherty, Paul O’Neill and Ken Singleton, all of whom are expected to return alongside lead play-by-play man Michael Kay.
Leiter also does studio analysis for the MLB Network. Jack Leiter, a righthander, committed to Vanderbilt in November.
