Not surprisingly, Alex Rodriguez beat out a mediocre field Monday night to take his spot at third base on MSG's "The Lineup: New York's All-time Best Baseball Players."

The other finalists were Clete Boyer, Howard Johnson, Graig Nettles and Red Rolfe.

A-Rod joins Yogi Berra, Lou Gehrig and Jackie Robinson.

Next up will be a tough category: shortstop, at 10:30 p.m. next Tuesday.

Derek Jeter will be difficult to beat, but the 1950s triumverate of Phil Rizzuto, Pee Wee Reese and Alvin Dark is formidable.

Rey Ordonez is a longshot.

In other baseball news, MLB Network will carry the Dodgers home opener at 4 p.m. Tuesday against the Diamondbacks.

At the mike: Vin Scully.
