The New York Jets have not been to a conference final in 13 years, but their longtime radio voice will appear in one on Friday night.

ESPN announced that its lead NHL play-by-play man, Sean McDonough, is ill and will be replaced by Bob Wischusen for Game 2 of the Eastern Conference final between the Rangers and the Panthers at Madison Square Garden.

Wischusen will work with analyst Ray Ferraro and reporter Emily Kaplan.

This means both the TV and radio calls will be handled by backups.

With Kenny Albert working the Western Conference final for TNT Sports, Sam Rosen had been slated to fill in for him. But a recent illness forced Rosen out and Don La Greca in for the radio call alongside analyst Dave Maloney. La Greca also is scheduled for Games 3 and 4 in Florida this weekend.
