The Browns’ visit to New Jersey the first weekend in October did not go well on the field; they blew an early 14-0 lead over the Giants and lost, 41-27.

But that will be beside the point when Travel Channel chronicles that trip Tuesday on the premiere of “NFL Road Tested,’’ an eight-episode series that will follow the Browns to illustrate the massive logistical undertaking involved.

Wait . . . the Browns? For new owner Jimmy Haslam the series was a way to showcase a once-proud franchise that he believes is “an under-marketed, iconic brand.’’

Initially, he said, there was some “nervousness’’ among coaches and players. Like HBO’s “Hard Knocks,’’ the series is co-produced by NFL Films. Unlike that show, this one will unfold during the season. But he said everyone has grown comfortable with the process.

The most important step in Haslam’s re-branding effort is improving the on-field product. The Browns are 3-8.

“We have to have a better team,’’ he said. “That’s the main thing we’re focused on.’’
