Cablevision strikes deal with NFL Network
Cablevision, which owns Newsday, announced a deal Thursday morning to start carrying the NFL Network and NFL RedZone, effective Friday.
The years-in-the-making agreement leaves Time Warner as the only one of the nine largest U.S. TV providers that does not carry the NFL Network.
NFL Network itself will be seen on Channel 150 for subscribers to iO Preferred, io Silver, iO Gold or iO Sports and Entertainment Pak.
NFL RedZone will be on Channel 151 and available to subscribers to iO Sports and Entertainment Pak, which is part of the iO Gold service.
The NFL has expanded its Thursday night series on the network this season, which theoretically increased the attractiveness of the service. But it was not immediately clear what finally pushed the league and Cablevision toward an agreement.
Football fans aren't asking questions; most are just happy it finally has happened.
