Catching up to 'Cool Runnings'
In honor of the Second Craziest Winter I've Experienced, Behind Only 1977-78, I filled a gap in my sports-movie resume Wednesday by watching "Cool Runnings," the 1993 flick about the 1988 Jamaican Olympic bobsled team.
It rises above its Disney corniness and extremely tenuous relationship to the actual history of the team and is a likeable family flick.
Sadly, John Candy, as the team's coach, doesn't look like he's having as much fun as he should be, and he also looks dangerously overweight. It was one of his last films before dying of a heart attack in 1994.
