Christy Mathewson: best starter in New York history
As I helpfully suggested last week, MSG's "The Lineup" went with Christy Mathewson over Tom Seaver and Whitey Ford as the best starting pitcher in New York history.
(Mariano Rivera was the no-brainer pick in relief.)
This means the lineup includes seven Yankees, two Giants and a Dodger.
The Mets were shut out, except for the technicality that Willie Mays played for them briefly at the end of his career.
The final episode is Tuesday night and will select the top New York manager ever.
Hmm. Not an easy one. McGraw? Huggins? McCarthy? Stengel? Torre?
