Eric Mangini joins ESPN
Eric Mangini, the notoriously secretive, less-than-emotive former Jets and Browns coach, has joined ESPN as a studio analyst.
On the surface, it is a curious bit of casting, but Mangini at least enters the gig with a sense of humor about himself.
“With my reputation for access and ease with the media, it seems like a natural fit,’’ he cracked in a news release announcing his hiring.
He also said: “As for my new role, I have been preparing diligently, by picking out tribal tattoos for my lower leg and doing triple shots of espresso to match Herm Edwards’ energy level.”
