Former Hofstra coach John Danowski leads Duke to lax title
Just got back from Baltimore, where I attended my fourth NCAA lacrosse final four and third in four years.
All four happened to coincide with Cornell's participation, and I plan to keep going until the Big Red wins one, darn it.
Here is a story I wrote about John and Matt Danowski. Here is Herzog's game story.
While it obviously was an exciting finish, truth is, Notre Dame's style - some sort of weird mixture of the neutral zone trap, the Rope-A-Dope and the Four Corners - turned the game into a snoozer for most of the steamy afternoon.
One highlight for me was discovering that while football writers at M&T Bank Stadium get only one crab cake in the media lounge, lacrosse writers get two.
Also, as I attempted to introduce myself to John Danowski after the game, he greeted me by name before I got the chance.
I never had met the man before, or at least not that I recalled. He told me he recognized me from my picture in the paper. I told him I was flattered.
And this: "Congratulations."
