Saturday night’s Red Sox-Yankees game, which will be seen in 71 percent of the nation, is the centerpiece of the first of three consecutive Saturday nights of baseball on Fox, each featuring the Yankees and/or Mets.

That’s up from two last year, and it could be another step toward even more in the future.

It will come down to ratings, and given promising results from last year and the fact networks have all but given up offering A-list scripted programs on Saturdays, the numbers figure to be good.

I try not to be one of those crotchety writers who lament more and more sports drifting into prime time and out of range for tweens with bedtimes, but having the Yankees and Sox play an entire weekend series with no games in daylight?

That just doesn’t seem right.
