You know that story in Tuesday's Newsday about how speculation over Derek Jeter's 3,000th hit was driving up resale market prices for the Rangers-Yankees game Thursday?

Never mind. After peaking at an average asking price of $111, the market crashed after Derek Jeter suffered a calf injury against the Indians Monday night.

By early afternoon Tuesday, the average price had been halved to $55 and still was falling fast, even before the Yankees made an announcement about Jeter's stafus, according to FanSnap.com, which searches dozens of secondary market sites.
