Jets, Giants to christen new Jersey digs, but the mood is subdued
Here is something I wrote for the paper about the joyless vibe that has surrounded the recent era of new sports facilities in the New York area in general and Monday night's first football game at New Meadowlands Stadium in particular.
The Jets and Giants are sure to be displeased with it. If I'm lucky, Rex Ryan will make me famous by waviing it in a team meeting and cursing me out on "Hard Knocks."
It's not too late to rebuild poor, old Giants Stadium, is it?
I've got the two "Press Elevator" signs in my basement, having purchased them from Steiner Sports. I'm willing to donate them to the cause.
