Joe Girardi must juggle aging roster
When I asked Joe Girardi the other day whether the subject of injuries still is his greatest challenge in dealing with reporters, he had an interesting response, in which he referenced the frequent questions he fields regarding resting veteran players:
"I think it's injuries, and the age of some of the players. I think sometimes players are remembered as being 25 all the time and that you can just play 'em 161 out of 162 days.
"It just doesn't work, not if we want to keep them healthy and keep them at their best. That becomes tricky at times."
