The Avalanche ended the Oilers’ visit to the Western Conference Final on Monday night after only four games, and in the process will end Sam Rosen’s play-by-play work in the Eastern Conference Final after only four games.

Rosen, the Rangers’ longtime television play-by-play man, has been filling in for radio announcer Kenny Albert when Albert has a conflict with his Turner television duties, including two games in the second round against the Hurricanes and the first four of the conference final against the Lightning.

But with the Avs-Oilers series now over, and with it Albert’s TV responsibilities for this season, Albert will return for Game 5 at Madison Square Garden on Thursday and beyond if necessary.

Rosen is set to call Game 4 of the Rangers-Lightning series in Tampa on ESPN New York (98.7-FM) on Tuesday night.
