The world might not be quite ready for a reality series starring Charles Barkley, so for now it will have to make do with one about Barkley's studio analyst partner, Queens native Kenny Smith.
On Tuesday, TBS green-lighted "The Smiths," in which Kenny, his actress/model wife, Gwendolyn Osborne-Smith, and their blended family of five children ages 2 to 20 will appear in at least six episodes.
The series will be shot in Los Angeles and Atlanta and feature what a news release described as a home marked by "conflicting parenting styles," "whirlwind schedules" and an "absolute madhouse" vibe - "albeit a loving one."
The news release went on: "Kenny has just about everything he needs to be considered the Coolest Dad on Earth - everything that is except the ability to impress his own kids."
"The Smiths'' is set to launch in the spring of 2015. Let's hope it happens before the end of the NBA season, so Barkley and Shaquille O'Neal will have time to comment on all this in the TNT studio.
