CBS College Sports recently turned up on my TV on Channel 143, opening new vistas of off-the-beaten path programming.

For example: At 8 p.m. both Friday and Saturday, Dave Starman and Matt Shepard will call Nebraska-Omaha at Notre Dame college hockey.

Nebraska-Omaha? Don't laugh. LIers Rich Purslow and Pasko Skarica play for the Mavericks.

And LI-born Kyle Palmieri plays for Notre Dame.

Meanwhile, in college basketball, ESPN.com's Pat Forde chose Harvard at Cornell Saturday as his "Non-Obvious Game of the Week."

Cornell's two games against Harvard are the biggest obstacles to a clean sweep of the Ivies and a possible No. 8 or 9 seed for the NCAAs.
