Mo Rivera, Floyd Mayweather, Mulcahy on Rutgers in Big Ten
Sorry about lack of blogging today. I'm off because I'm working Sunday. Sue me!
About 1.4 million people bought the pay per view showing of the May 1 fight between Floyd Mayweather and Sugar Shane Mosley, and the telecast grossed $78.3 million, second only for a non-heavyweight fight to the $137 million for the 2007 Mayweather-Oscar de la Hoya bout.
Had a chance to watch the "E:60" segment on Mariano Rivera that debuts on ESPN tonight.
No new blockbuster information about Mo, at least not that I'm aware of. But it was kind of cool to see him give Tom Rinaldi a tour of the beach in Panama where he learned to play the game.
Verizon has been added to DirecTV on the list of outlets that will offer the 3D telecasts of the Yankees' games in Seattle July 10 and 11. Talks with Cablevision - which owns Newsday - and other local cable companies are ongoing.
WFAN's Joe Benigno and Evan Roberts were pretty rough on AP sports editor Terry Taylor in an interview today regarding the decision to re-vote on the Defensive Rookie of the Year Award.
I tend to agree with them. It's a weird precedent. I'd vote for Cushing, if I had a vote.
Interesting stuff from former Rutgers AD Robert Mulcahy in a chat w/Sirius XM's Chris Russo Monday:
Russo: “If there’s a negative for Rutgers playing Big Ten football, Bob, what would it be?”
