More about the popularity of the World Cup in NY area

Here is a story I wrote for the Tuesday newspaper about how New York is among the markets following the World Cup most avidly.

I should clarify one line that is a tad misleading: I said New York greets many big events, such as the Super Bowl, with a "big yawn."

Obviously I meant that in relative terms. New York ranked 51st among 56 major markets for the most recent Super Bowl and currently ranks third for the World Cup.

But in total numbers of viewers, there obviously were more people in New York watching the Super Bowl than there are watching the World Cup.
