NBC began the season with a total of zero Islanders games on its broadcast and cable schedules, but did add one against the Sharks last month. Might there be more on the horizon for one of the NHL's rising teams?

"The NFL is going to go a whole season without flexing on Sunday Night Football," executive producer Sam Flood said, "but there's a good chance they will flex into [another] Islanders game between now and the end of the season.

"We are plotting as we speak."

That must mean NBC expects the Islanders to maintain their hot start, right?

"This is a really difficult team to play against," analyst Pierre McGuire said. "Every coach I have talked to in the league, most of the players that I've talked to in the league, really respect what the Islanders are about right now.

"It's been phenomenal to watch them transition from being a real poor team to being a very, very good team."
