One (almost) shining moment
CBS’ Jim Nantz has called many memorable sports endings, but he said one that didn’t quite happen would have trumped them all.
If Gordon Hayward’s halfcourt heave at the buzzer had gone in and won last year’s NCAA basketball title for Butler, he said, “It would have been the greatest finish in the history of sports.’’
With all due respect to the late Bobby Thomson, I agree, especially given the back story (Hoosiers II!), site (Indianapolis, Butler’s home) and opponent (Duke).
