Pro Bowl buzz is negative, but at least there's a buzz
I will say this about the NFL's much-bashed pre-Super Bowl Pro Bowl experiment:
It has people talking about the Pro Bowl more than they have in years, and the TV ratings probably will be good, because sports fans won't know what else to do with themselves Sunday night.
Me? I'll be watching the Grammys in hopes a duet between Kanye West and Taylor Swift breaks out.
The weirdest part of the Pro Bowl plan is forcing members of the Colts and Saints to appear at the game even though they are not playing in it.
Colts president Bill Polian called the idea "stupid."
Jon Gruden, who will analyze the game for ESPN, said this about that:
"I tend to agree with him . . . There's a lot of truth to what he said. I can't say I disagree with him at all."
I will begin working on my Friday newspaper column now. Enjoy "Hook-N-Look" at 3:30 p.m. on Versus.
Unless you have DirecTV, in which case you don't have Versus but can catch the end of the 2001 WCC Championship Game between Santa Clara and Gonzaga on ESPN Classic.
