The Blackhawks-Rangers game on NBC Sports Network on Wednesday night averaged 2.39 percent of homes in the New York area, the best regular-season NHL rating ever for the network in the market, not counting the Rangers-Islanders game at Yankee Stadium last season.

Nationally, the game averaged 0.73 percent of homes in major markets, the second-best NHL regular-season rating this season on NBCSN.

The Rangers had their five-game winning streak snapped by a former player. In his return to Madison Square Garden, center Brad Richards scored the game-winner at 7:19 of the third period for the Chicago Blackhawks in a 1-0 win.
