ESPN announced play-by-play man Sean McDonough will leave “Monday Night Football” after two seasons and rejoin ESPN’s college football announcing team this fall, with assignments that will include a College Football Playoff Semifinal.

McDonough’s analyst partner, Jon Gruden, left the booth after last season to become the Raiders’ head coach, so ESPN will have a new announcing team starting in 2018.

“Over the past two years, as I watched college football on television, I realized how much I missed it,” McDonough said in a news release. “Being the voice of ‘Monday Night Football’ was one of the great honors of my life, but I am grateful for the opportunity to return to the unique traditions, rivalries and pageantry of college football and to tell the stories of the participants.”
