Many Mets fans were heartened that SNY filled its Monday afternoon time slot with an encore presentation of the Sept. 21, 2001, game against the Braves - the first major sports event in New York after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

The game is recalled for Mike Piazza's dramatic game-winning two-run home run in the eighth inning at Shea Stadium.

Turns out SNY was more lucky than good. It had scheduled the game for that day weeks ago, long before the death of Osama bin Laden.

But SNY did add another showing for prime time Monday night.

Speaking of bin Laden and TV, here is an update to my earlier post on how ESPN handled the breaking news Sunday night.
