The Marinovich family, revisited
“The Marinovich Project,’’ the latest from ESPN Films’ documentary series, premieres Dec. 10 after the Heisman Trophy presentation. Let’s hope the finalists record it on their DVRs as a cautionary tale.
It is difficult to believe it has been two decades since Todd Marinovich (aka “Robo QB’’) blew his promising football career in a haze of drugs and indifference.
But here we see him as a seemingly serene, middle-aged man – and his father, Marv, as a wistful old man – providing context to his saga after years of demonization of Marv for his over-the-top methods.
It’s a more complicated story than you remember.
