U.S.-England soccer game draws large U.S. television audience
Saturday's United States vs. England soccer game on ABC averaged 7.3 percent of homes and 12.96 million viewers (not counting the pregame coverage), making it the most-watched first-round World Cup game and the most-viewed U.S. game since 1994.
And that's only on English-language TV. Many Spanish-speaking viewers watched on Univision, whose ratings have not yet been released.
The most-watched World Cup telecast in the U.S. was the 1999 women's final between the U.S. and China, with an average of 18 million viewers.
The most-watched men's final was Brazil vs. Itay in 1994, with 14.5 million.
