What's in a name for Colts coach?
Many listeners were baffled last winter when WFAN's Mike Francesa repeatedly called Colts coach Jim Caldwell "Jim Cardwell," even one day when Caldwell's former boss, Tony Dungy, was sitting in studio next to Francesa.
Did Mike really not know the guy's name? Most cynics assumed so, but I doggedly stuck to the theory it had to be some sort of weird Long Island accent-related thing.
Sure enough, vindication came this week when Francesa picked up a call from a listener in "West Cardwell" New Jersey.
Long Islanders talk funny. Deal with it, America.
