Anderson Silva to defend title at UFC Brazil

Anderson Silva, UFC middleweight champion and pound-for-pound king of mixed martial arts, will defend his title against Yushin Okami this August in Brazil, president Dana Whte confirmed with USA Today on Wednesday.

Okami (27-5) earned the title shot against Silva  -- winner of 14 straight fights -- with a victory over Nate Marquardt last November and has been waiting to have it confirmed. After Silva (28-4) defeated Vitor Belfort with a front leg kick in the first round at UFC 126 in February, White had hinted that a superfight with Georges St-Pierre could be next.

In the weeks since, White has called that bout "a dream fight" on several occasions, making the prospects of that fight anytime soon look grim.

So it's Silva vs. Okami on Aug. 27 in Rio de Janeiro for the first UFC event in Brazil since October 1998. Okami is the last fighter to defeat Silva. Of course, that was in January 2006, and it by disqualification because of an illegal upkick by Silva.

There are also rumors that UFC Hall of Famer Royce Gracie is negotiating to fight on that card, as is his cousin Renzo Gracie. Both are in their 40s.
