Baldwin middleweight Chris Weidman defeated Demian Maia by split decision last night at UFC on Fox 2 in Chicago. Weidman (8-0, 4-0 UFC) had several takedowns of Maia (15-4), a Brazilian jujitsu specialist, but won the fight mainly with his boxing skills. Weidman took the fight on 11 days' notice after an injury to Mark Munoz forced a reshuffling of the two main events.
