Frankie Edgar on defending his UFC title

Among the basic questions I enjoy asking champions during interviews is this, give or take a word: Which is more difficult, defending the title or the long journey to get there?
UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar says defending it is harder.
“You have to become better than you were the last time, every single time out, that’s definitely challenging," Edgar said. “Every title defense, it forces you to bring the best out of yourself.”
As for his next opponent, Edgar did not say who he'd prefer to fight (they rarely do), but offered some quick thoughts on why each possible fight would interest the fans.
On Ben Henderson, "he's a great athlete."
On Clay Guida, "we have a high pace."
On Gilbert Melendez, "the other top guy in the world."
