Here come the 'revenge angle' stories for Hughes-Almeida
Ricardo Almeida is a Renzo Gracie disciple. As is Matt Serra.
Matt Hughes beat them both, and Renzo's cousin Royce Gracie, so the natural angle is to call the Hughes-Almeida fight at UFC 117 on Aug. 7 a "revenge" fight.
I don't think Almeida thinks of it that way. If he wins, sure, that's a nice bonus. But winning is the bigger thing here as Almeida looks to continue progressing at 170 pounds after dropping from middleweight.
Still, it makes the marketing and hype efforts for this bout a no-brainer. UFC broadcaster Joe Rogan offers some analysis here.
