Last month, Gian Villante needed 40 seconds to win the Ring of Combat heavyweight title.

Next month, Villante (6-0) will fight for the light heavyweight title at Ring of Combat 29 on April 16 at the Tropicana Showroom in Atlantic City.

The drop to 205 pounds may seem rough on such short notice, but consider this:

- Villante weighed just 221 pounds for his February fight.

- Villante was an All-American wrestler at MacArthur High School and All-American football player at Hofstra, where he also wrestled.

Villante, 24, is probably better off at light heavyweight in the long run. He has the strength and speed to compete in that division, where as he could give up too much size at heavyweight.
