I like this Michael Bisping quote from Thursday's UFC 120 conference call, ahead of his fight against Yoshihiro Akiyama on Oct. 16:

"In the past I've talked about, you know, wanting to be the champion and I'm going to be the world champion, and all this type of stuff. And if I'm honest, in the past, maybe I didn't truly believe it. You know, I was just saying it because it was the thing you were supposed to say."

Of course, Bisping spent the next few moments talking about how everything is starting to come together for him now, and how his new coaches are helping and how he just might be ready to make a title run at middleweight in the next year or so.

If he channels his lingering disdain for the split decision to loss to Wanderlei Silva, he just might have a shot.
