UFC 115: Evan Dunham handles Tyson Griffin

It may not have been the most exciting fight people were expecting, but at UFC 115, Evan Dunham went a long way in determining the next round of elite lightweight fights.

Outgrappling and out-controlling Tyson Griffin, Dunham remained undefeated with a split decision. The judges scored it 30-27 and 29-28 for Dunham, and one judge gave the fight to Griffin, 29-28.

Despite Dunham (11-0) gaining back control in the final minute of the first round, Griffin (14-3) may have actually earned points there. He continually threw backward punches to keep Dunham at bay and prevent him from locking in a rear naked choke.

In the second round, Dunham controlled Griffin on the ground for most the fight. Griffin made it to his feet in the final minute, but Dunham used a body triangle to hang on his back and secure the round.

Two minutes into the third round, Griffin moved in for a punch, but Dunham avoided it and used each fighter's body sweat to slip Griffin around, to the ground and into back control. Griffin managed to get to his feet with 1:24 left, but once again, Dunham hung on his back and negated Griffin's offense and sapped any remaining energy.
