UFC 128, Barboza and Spike
Here's a treat for those of you not going to UFC 128 at The Prudential Center in Newark on March 19: Edson Barboza's lightweight fight against Anthony Njokuani will air live on Spike.
It's one of two bouts to air as free televised prelims return to Spike at 9 p.m.
The other prelim is a light heavweight bout between Luiz Cane and Eliot Marshall.
But Barboza (7-0) is the real attraction on this night. With his powerful and lightning-fast kicks, he has drawn comparisons to Jose Aldo. Barboza made his UFC debut at UFC 123, beating Mike Lullo by third-round TKO.
Fightin' Words had the chance to see Barboza earlier in his career at Ring of Combat in New Jersey in February 2010, and here's what we said then: "Remember Barboza's name, you're going to hear it again one day."
Bingo.
