NEWARK - Last we saw of Jim Miller, it was December 2010 and he was submitting highly regarded newcomer Charles Oliveira then getting angry about his lack of placement in the discussion for a lightweight title shot.

He continued that aggression from the start of the first round against Kamal Shalorus at UFC 128 at the Prudential Center. Two minutes in the third round, Miller finished it off with for the technical knockout.

"I'm ready for it," said Miller, winner of seven straight and nine of his last 10.

It began with a left uppercut that staggered Shalorus. Then a left knee to a bent-over Shalorus sent him to the ground. Miller moved in and launched into some strong ground and pound until referee Kevin Mulhall stopped the bout.

Miller (20-2) got a takedown midway through the second round, and the superb jiu-jtsu practitioner quickly got to back control on Shalorus (7-1-2). He attempted two rear naked chokes but Shalorus was able to fend them off. What he couldn't get free from was Miller's body triangle. That kept the advantage for Miller and helped win him the second round.
