SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Missing weight by one pound is somewhat understandable. Missing weight by five pounds is a real problem.

That's what Staten Island's Nick Pace (pictured above) did Friday, weighing in at 141 pounds for his bantamweight bout against Miguel Angel Torres. For some perspective, a Big Gulp from 7-Eleven weighs four pounds, sans cup and lid and straw.

It was the second time in four fights under the Zuffa banner that Pace missed weight. He forfeited 20 percent of his paycheck, but at least he has some sponsors on his shorts now.

Regardless of weight, Pace was outworked by the veteran Torres, who won a unanimous decision at UFC 139 on Saturday night. All three judges scored the fight, 30-27, in favor of Torres (39-4), a former WEC bantamweight champion who once owned a 20-fight win streak.

"A guy like Nice Pace is dangerous, he has nothing to lose," Torres said.

The two fighters exchanged strikes in the first round with Torres getting the better of the action with his leg kicks. Pace (6-3) wasn't active enough in the second round but picked up the activity in the third round. Problem was Torres was the opponent and he's had too many pro fights to tire out early.
