Since debuting in the UFC in September of 2016, Gregor Gillespie has steadily picked apart all opponents put in front of him.

The Bellmore Kickboxing MMA-trained Gillespie, a former national champion wrestler for Edinboro, has four finishes in his five UFC bouts, including a 22-second knockout as well as another first-round stoppage.

Gillespie, a lightweight, faces his next challenge at UFC Brooklyn on Jan. 19 when he fights Yancy Medeiros, a UFC official said. The fight card at Barclays Center will be broadcast on ESPN+, with some prelim bouts airing on ESPN. Where the Gillespie-Medeiros fight will be placed on the card is not yet known.

Gillespie (12-0, 5-0 UFC), who grew up in Rochester and now lives and trains on Long Island, is coming off a second-round submission by arm triangle of Vinc Pichel in June at UFC Utica.

The fight marks Medeiros' return to the lightweight division. The 31-year-old Hawaiian had competed at welterweight in his last four bouts, going 3-1. Medeiros (15-5, 6-5 UFC with 1 no contest) last fought in February, losing via first-round knockout to Donald Cerrone. He was scheduled to fight this past July but had to pull out of the fight with an injury.
