EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- There are 10 less pounds of John Dodson, but just as much excitement.

Dodson, the "Ultimate Fighter" Season 14 winner at bantamweight, debuted at flyweight Saturday with an energetic fight against equally fast Tim Elliott at UFC on Fox 3 at the Izod Center.

Dodson (14-5) won a unanimous decision over Elliott, wth all three judges scoring it 29-28.

While Elliott continued to push forward against the southpaw -- including a cartwheel that set up two unsuccessful kicks -- it was Dodson who landed the more effective and significant strikes.

Until late in the third round, that is. Elliott (8-3-1) stepped up his already fast pace in the final minute to land good shots and draw blood from Dodson's nose.
