EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. - Karlos Vemola used to fight at 242 pounds. Here on Saturday night, he made his 185-pound middleweight debut and did so in impressive fashion.

He used his strength to get Mike Massenzio to the ground and submit him via rear naked choke in the second round of UFC on Fox 3 at the Izod Center.

"It was my first test, I'll be coming back faster, quicker, stronger at middleweght," Vemola said.

Vemola (10-2) was able to use his ground game to get Massenzio's back and land a few punches, which led to an opening for submission attempt.

Massenzio (13-7) had the better of the striking in the first round, landing several punches to the head including a straight left that staggered the former heavyweight. Vemola did make one impressive move to escape a choke hold. He was on his back, his feet near the fence and pulled a reverse Bo Jackson by walking up the cage to gain enough leverage to flip over and escape the hold.
