UFC on Versus 2: Ellenberger outslugs Howard

After two rounds of absorbing punishment from Jake Ellenberger, John "Doomsday" Howard grew an extra left side of his face.

His eye was so swollen, it grew to Hasim Rahman vs. Lennox Lewis proportions. So nasty was the swelling above and below his left eye, the doctors stopped the bout midway through the third at UFC on Versus 2 in San Diego, Calif.

Of course, Howard (14-5) threw up his hands in disgust initially but even he had to know he couldn't see out of the eye. It was the welterweight's first loss in the UFC (4-1).

For Ellenberger (23-5), however, he looked well rested after losing out on his fight at UFC 111. In the first round, Ellenberger scored a pair of takedowns but didn't inflict too much damage, Still, it was enough to win him the round. Ellenberger continued the beating in the second round.
