The most talked-about private dinner in MMA history will be addressed Sunday when ESPN airs its "Sunday Conversation" interview with UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor.
McGregor, the biggest draw in the sport, met with UFC chairman Lorenzo Fertitta and president Dana White in Los Angeles on Wednesday night to discuss matters. Presumably, it involved McGregor's refusal last month to go from Iceland, where he was training, to Las Vegas for promotional events surrounding UFC 200 in July.
McGregor was scheduled to fight Nate Diaz in the rematch from their welterweight bout in March, won by Diaz, but was pulled from the card by the UFC after not doing the media events.
"This is the fight game," McGregor said in the interview. "Someitmes emotions get into it, but it's important to recognize that emotions have no place in business.
"We are doing beautfiul things, so let's continue. Let's fix it and continue."
The interview will air during Sunday's 10 a.m. ET edition of SportsCenter on ESPN.
"He talked about that dinner a lot," Kenny Mayne said about the interview on ESPNfrontrow.com. "He said a lot was accomplished. I asked him to put it in American football terms and he said they’re at midfield. It seems to me they have a ways to go, but he was able to give them a better appreciation of where he stood."
McGregor and the UFC have yet to announce his next bout.
