Diego Maradona cast doubt about his future as Argentina coach, saying he'd been drained of all his energy in a 4-0 loss to Germany - an experience he likened to being floored by Muhammad Ali.

"I may leave tomorrow, but I'd like that these boys continue showing who they are and keep playing real Argentina football," said Maradona, looking exhausted and heartbroken.

Asked to clarify his plans, he said "I'll have to think carefully about it . . . and talk with my family, and the players. There are many issues here."

Maradona was derided back home before the tournament for leading the team by instinct and emotion rather than tactics. He attacked his critics with a stream of profanities.

Suarez suspended

FIFA suspended Uruguay forward Luis Suarez for one match for his deliberate handball to deny Ghana the winning goal in the teams' World Cup quarterfinal match.

The penalty means Suarez will be out when Uruguay meets the Netherlands in the semifinals on Tuesday, but would be available for the final.

After Suarez's goal-line handball in the last minute of extra time on Friday, Ghana forward Asamoah Gyan missed the ensuing penalty kick and time ran out with the score tied at 1-1. Uruguay won the penalty shootout that followed, 4-2, to advance.
