Samuel Eto'o makes more money than you

Samuel Eto'o can now get that private yacht he wanted.

So he can sail it to that tropical island he just might buy.

The little-known Russian club, Anzhi, has struck a deal to snag the Cameroonian striker for a whopping fee and a jaw-dropping contract, making him the highest-paid footballer in the world. 

Eto'o, 30, will make approximately $29 million per year. Cristiano Ronaldo and Leo Messi, meanwhile, currently are the highest paid players with salaries of $17.4 million and $15.2 million, respectively. The fact that Eto'o can potentially earn about twice as much as Messi startling. 

Anzhi is owned by billionaire Suleiman Kerimov, an oil tycoon worth almost $8 billion. Eto'o will join a cast of relative unknowns, save for defender 38-year-old Brazilian Roberto Carlos, who serves as the team captain.

Eto'o, a 4-time African Player of the Year, will make the transfer from Inter Milan, with which he won a Champions League title in 2010. Eto'o won another pair of titles with Barcelona in 2006 and 2009 and scored more than 100 goals for the Spanish powerhouse in four years.
