The editor of the Huron Daily Tribune of Bad Axe is recovering after collapsing while officiating a girls' junior varsity soccer game and being revived with help from an automated external defibrillator.

The newspaper's publisher Jenny Anderson says Tuesday Dave Shane is expected to get a pacemaker and hopes to return to work soon. Anderson says efforts to revive Shane when he collapsed Thursday during the game between Saginaw Heritage and host Bangor John Glenn were "heroic."

Anderson says the collapse was related to Shane's Lyme disease.

MLive.com reports John Glenn junior varsity coach Todd Schisler and athletic trainer Jeff Maier sprang into action, employing the defibrillator and CPR after Shane wasn't breathing and had no pulse. Schisler and Shane shook hands Friday at a hospital, where Shane was recovering.
