Steve Nash shows off soccer skills at 'Showdown in Chinatown'

Steve Nash, Tony Parker and a group of other famous athletes hit the streets of New York Wednesday for the third annual "Showdown at Chintatown," a charity event that benefits Nash's foundation.

Nash, with the help of U.S. soccer great Claudio Reyna, set up an 8-on-8 soccer game that featured a combination of NBA stars and soccer pros. The game was played at Sara D. Roosevelt Park, on the corner of Houston and Chrystie in the Lower East Side.

"I'm really just a converted soccer player," Nash said. "I didn't play basketball until I was 13. If I hadn't played soccer, I don't think I'd be an NBA player.

"There's so much excitement around the game of soccer right now, so it's phenomenal to have the Showdown at the same time as the World Cup." 

Some of the usual soccer stars, such as France's Thierry Henry, had to sit out this year's event because of World Cup obligations, but one player showcased was U.S.-born pro Giuseppie Rossi, who was left of Italy's World Cup team last month (he shouldn't have been). Rossi's fancy footwork wowed the crowd time after time.

The Blue team included: Nash (Suns), Jared Dudley (Suns), Marc Stein (NBA reporter), Rossi (Villareal) and Nate Robinson (Celtics). The Orange team included: Parker (Spurs), Raja Bell (Warriors), Brandon Jennings (Bucks) and Reyna.
